Natuaral Cosmeceutical for Discoloration

Hyperpigmentation is a common, usually harmless condition in which patches of skin become darker in color than the normal surrounding skin. This darkening occurs when an excess of melanin, the brown pigment that produces normal skin color, forms deposits in the skin. Hyperpigmentation can affect the skin color of people of any race.

The main causes of hyperpigmentation are skin injuries, including those related to acne vulgaris. People with darker Asian, East Indian, Mediterranean or African skin tones are also more prone to hyper pigmentation, especially if they have excess sun exposure.

Researchers found numerous alternatives for hydroquinone (a phenolic compound that has been widely used to treat hyper pigmentation). Natural depigmenting agents include the following:

Aloesin
Arbutin
Azelaic Acid
Glycolic Acid
Kojic Acid
Licorice Extract
Melatonin
Niacinamide
Paper Mulberry
Retinol
Soy Extracts
Vitamin C
